Will I need to make adjustments to the derailer to change my road bike cassette to a larger one?
On a road bike with a compact crank (double chain ring) I'm changing the cassette from a 11-23 to one 12-27. Will I need to make adjustments in the rear to ensure appropriate exchange Detailer speed? Will this change help me up or still feel embarrassed and left for my girlfriend.
First, make sure the derailleur is responsible the largest sprocket 27t ….. some of them out in Max 25T or 26T. Apart from that, all you have to do is adjust the B-screw on the Rear Derailleur, and perhaps make very fine adjustments to the limit screws. Most times, there is no need to touch the limit screws, but it is always best to start from scratch and establish diverter as new. In addition, you may want to add a couple of links of the chain, or simply use a new and cut to length. If you need any help with this, a shop will do it reasonably cheaply, or you can visit the "help fix" at http://www.parktool.com for great instructions and photos on how to do everything correctly. If your girlfriend really kicks ass, you might still feel ashamed, but changing the cassette you be gaining 2 extra low gear. If it helps your legs feel fresh after uploading, maybe you can go with it. LOL: o) Good luck! : O)
